The
Peacock Hotel has been a relaxing base for many famous names
over the years but 2004 was rather different when the hotel
played host to stars of the big screen who were filming on
location in Derbyshire.
Keira Knightley (Elizabeth Bennet) and Matthew Macfadyen
(Mr Darcy) joined Talulah Riley (Mary Bennet), Rosamund Pike
(Jane Bennet), Jenna Malone (Lydia Bennet), Carey Mulligan
(Kitty Bennet), Simon Woods (Mr Bingley), Rupert Friend (Mr
Wickham), Penelope Wilton (Mrs Gardiner), Peter Wight (Mr
Gardiner), Meg Wynn Owen (Mrs Reynolds), Moya Brady (Lambton
Maid) for the line up of Pride and Prejudice which is due
out at cinemas across the country in the middle of September.
Also Director Joe Wright, Paul Webster (Producer), Jane Frazer
(Co-Producer), Roman Osin (Director of Photography), Sarah
Greenwood (Production Designer), Jacqueline Durran (Costume
Designer), Fae Hammon (Hair and Make-up Designer) all stayed
at The Peacock.
Billed as a sumptuous new adaptation of the well known Jane
Austen classic novel it will appear on the big screen ten
years after the very popular TV production.
The Peacock, set in the heart of the Peak District, was the
perfect base for the stars who were filming at nearby Haddon
Hall where its banqueting hall was transformed into the inn
at Lambton for the screen production. Its dining hall can
also be spotted in the film as Elizabeth's bedroom.
Filming also took part at Chatsworth House which is just
a few miles from The Peacock.
